Montreat NC Real Estate

Equally known as a summer and a home to year round residences, Montreat is a very unique place.  Montreat is a small community located just north of Black Mountain NC real estate and sits about 10 miles east of Asheville.  Montreat was orginally founded as an ecclesiastical Presbyterian mecca for spiritual growth and retreats.  It was incorporated as a town in the year 1967. Montreat College, a small liberal arts college, is located in the town.  The Presbyterian Church´s Mountain Retreat Association conference center is also a major presence. 

  
The mountain surrounding Montreat on three sides offers a vast system of hiking trails  The view from atop Lookout Mountain and Graybeard Mountain are spectacular.  Between semesters at Appalachian State University, David Clegg worked as a trail guide and sherpa for the Mountain Retreat Association in Montreat.   

Montreat NC Real Estate ranges from small vacation houses to large traditional family compounds.  The town of Black Mountain ajoins Montreat NC real estate just to the south and offers fine gift shops, superb restaurants, art galleries and an old-fashioned general and hardware store. Black Mountain real estate is also home to an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, and a city park with lighted walking paths arround Lake Tomahawk.  Juxtapostioned attractions and activities include The Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock Park and Grandfather Mountain. Skiing is closeby at Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain.
